What was your idea behind the
garden and its design?
‘As it’s a small garden, the idea was to have
a paved area for relaxing and eating breakfast.
Because it’s small, I thought it should have
a cottage-garden feel with a few trellises to
hide the oil tank, as well as to protect the
seating area from the wind.’
What plants did you use?
‘The plants I used are low maintenance –
lavender and roses, and a wisteria as well.’
How does the garden
complement the interior?
‘The garden is the first ‘room’ you come to
on your arrival – it’s all about expectations and
the fragrance of plants on a summer evening.
This is a small garden but I hope it gives as
much joy as the interior of the house.’
