8. Money Matters
• In general, banks are open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 3
pm, but it is always possible to find money changers, particular-
ly in major cities and tourist centers. US dollar traveler’s checks
are widely accepted and the most reliable. Bank transactions
require proof of identity such as passport and original purchase
receipts. Credit cards may be accepted at ATMs though there is a
daily withdrawal limit of up to 7500 pesos. There is a charge of
at least 300 pesos per transaction. There is a network of approxi-
mately 6,000 ATMs to withdraw funds or get cash advances in
the Philippines.
