10. Shopping
• Visitors to Manila are often surprised at the many huge
shopping centers found throughout Metro Manila, many of
which are modern malls with clothing boutiques, restaurants,
bowling alleys, antique shops, huge atriums, food courts,
supermarkets and cinemas, like those found in western cities.
Shopping malls are generally open every day from 10 am to 9
pm. They are often crowded, particularly during summer when
people go window shopping to escape the heat. Large cities in the
provinces are also catching up with the boom in shopping malls.
Stores in the tourist belt area are mostly open until midnight. A
number of shops open 24 hours a day, particularly convenience
stores and drugstores. One of the largest malls in the world—the
Mall of Asia—can be found in the Philippines.
