Aran-weight yarn held double stranded equals
A BIT a quick-hook hat that’s heavy enough for the
TRICKY bitterest winter weather. The blue tones we’ve
ARAN 4.5MM used here are a great match for denim clothes.

NOTES
The Hat is worked in rows from the bottom up as a
YOU WILL NEED flat piece and seamed together at the end. The

1 ball of each: For the main stitch pattern you will use two

Saana (800) wind off half of Ruka and Saana so you have 2
Novita Natura (100% wool, 50g/100m) balls of each.
1 ball of Lake (015) Change colours on the final yrh of st before colour
Q A 4mm (US G/6) hook change is indicated, carry unused yarn up the side
Q A 6.5mm (US K/10!) hook of the work ready to pick up again as directed.

RIBBING
TENSION Using a 4mm hook and Lake, ch9.
14 sts and 17 rows to measure 10x10cm Row 1 (RS) Ss in bl of second ch from hook and
(4x4in) over stitch pattern each ch across, turn. [8 ss]
Row 2 Ch1 (does not count as a st throughout), ss in
MEASUREMENTS bl of each ss across, turn.
Hat circumference measures 48cm (18"in) Repeat Row 2 until ribbing measures 48cm.
Fasten off.

Rotate Ribbing to work into the row ends.
With RS facing and using a 6.5mm hook, join
double strand of Ruka into right-hand side of long
edge.
Row 1 (RS) Ch1, 62dc evenly along, turn. [62 sts]
Row 2 (WS) Ch3 (counts as tr throughout), *skip
next 2 dc, tr in next st, ch1, tr in first of 2 sts just
skipped; rep from * to last st, tr in last dc, turn. [42
sts]
Row 3 Ch1, dc in each st and ch-1 sp to end, turn.
[62 sts]
Change to 2 strands of Saana.
