I really do hope the directors continue to be demanding

and understanding [in future films]. Having a strong
creative pulse will benefi t future fi lms and will really give
Star Wars fans something to look forward to, which will
be absolutely amazing.
Visual Effects supervisor Ben Morris refl ects on
what he and his team accomplish through their art, not

just on The Last Jedi but on modern films in general:

“Increasingly in film-making, visual effects is not just a
tool to create magic. It’s becoming a Swiss army knife tool
kit. We can modify things in shots and even change the
weather, so we’re indirectly helping all departments in the
film, which is why nowadays VFX crews are enormous.

We’re not just creating aliens, spaceships and dinosaurs
anymore.” a
