and Road Runner adventures, the insanely kinetic and well-crafted tales he created.
The Hiromi were just a blast, so convinced they were so smart and evil and deadly....
and such utter, craven buffoons. I loved whenever we could work them in, and it all
started here, the first time they appeared.

I almost felt guilty getting paid for this one! More than a bit of
“TAI” it was kind of autobiographical, being based on those crazy,
surreal, barely survivable bits of misdirection and “mess with the
(#103, JANUARY 1986),
tourists” malice Louise “Weezie” Simonson and I experienced
when we were doing either store signings or at cons a few
thousand miles from home. Weezie suggested it might make a
good Star Wars issue, and I had been dying to have some fun with
Lando. I laughed when I was writing it... and when Ron Frenz
turned the art in, I almost fell on the fl oor.

for me at least; and I think in each case the narrative turned
in unexpected directions toward the end that made the whole
tale great. And Cindy Martin and Ron Frenz both turned in
some of their finest, most nuanced work.
