               Mon Repos Estate, Corfu

With its extensive lush gardens set on the hill of Analipsis at Kanóni,
the Mon Repos Estate is a tranquil haven. Created during British rule
by the second Lord High Commissioner of the Ionians, Sir Frederick
Adam, the estate later became the summer home of the Greek royal
family, and the birthplace of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. It is
also famous for being the site of Palaeopolis, the island’s ancient city,
and visitors can see the remains of ancient buildings in the grounds.
