The craggy peaks of the Pyrenees

are home to some of France’s
rarest wildlife and most unspoilt
landscapes, and every twist and turn
in the road seems to reveal another
knockout view – one of my personal
favourites is the amazing road over
the Col d’Aubisque, which feels
closer to flying than driving. I love
the traditional way of life here, too.
Visit during the Transhumance to be
treated to one of France’s great rural
spectacles.
