GINA CARANO
Born in Dallas,
Texas in 1982, Gina
Carano’s impressive
sports career began
in high school,
where she excelled
in girl’s basketball,
volleyball, and
softball. After
majoring in
psychology at
college, she became
an accomplished
competitor in Muay
Thai (Thai boxing).
This led to a career
in mixed-martial
arts (MMA), which
she retired from
in 2009 to pursue
a career in acting.
Director Steven
Soderbergh cast
her in the lead role
in Haywire (2011),
starring alongside
Michael Fassbender,
Ewan McGregor, and
Michael Douglas.
Roles on television
and in other
blockbuster action
fi lms followed,
including Fast &
Furious 6 (2013), and
Deadpool (2016).
