I’m a sucker for the big blue and
fine wine, so this seafaring trip is
right up my alley. Feasting on fresh
oysters on the seashore aside, I
strongly advise lingering over lunch
at La Terrasse Rouge (p409)
near St-Émilion. This spectacular
vineyard restaurant was borne out
of Jean Nouvel’s designer revamp
of Château La Dominique’s wine
cellars: dining on its uber-chic
terrace overlooking a field of dark-
red glass pebbles is the ultimate
French road-trip reward.
