GREY OWL
Legendary British
conservationist Grey
Owl was born Archibald
Stansfeld Belaney.
After emigrating to
Canada after World War
I, Belaney faked a First
Nations identity.
Inspired by his Mohawk
wife, Anahareo, he
wrote of wilderness
conservation and ran
a beaver protection
program, becoming the
park’s first naturalist.
