Comics Roundup
Return to the Republic in
this month’s Star Wars comics.
Prequel
Perfection
Jedi, Sith, clones, and a
certain Gungan strike back in
the Age of Republic Special.
Marvel’s Age of Republic publishing
event continues in this standalone issue,
which contains something to please
every prequel-era fan, beneath a cover
by artist Rod Reis. The anthology stars
the Republic’s greatest heroes and the
vilest Separatist villains—and there’s even
room for hapless Gungan Jar Jar Binks!
The talents of three creative teams
come together in this jam-packed epic,
featuring three thrilling tales. Ethan
Sacks (Old Man Hawkeye) contributes an
action-heavy adventure in which Jedi
Master Mace Windu settles an old score.
Asajj Ventress, the dual-saber wielding
dark side assassin, returns in a tale by
Jody Houser (Thrawn) that shows off
the character’s icy fury. Finally, Marc
Guggenheim (X-Men: Gold) shines a light
on an aging Captain Rex as he dusts off
his blaster and rejoins the fray, in a story
featuring a special guest appearance by
the infamous Gungan Jar Jar Binks.
Star Wars: Age of Republic Special is
available beginning January 16.
Age of Republic:
Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jango Fett
The Age of Republic Special isn’t the only prequel era adventure
hitting shelves this January. Two standalone issues—one starring
Obi-Wan Kenobi, the other Jango Fett—provide new insights into
the young Jedi Knight and the bounty hunter who will become
his nemesis in Star Wars: Attack of the Clones (2002).
Writer Jody Houser teams with artist Cory Smith and Wilton
Santos on Age of Republic: Obi-Wan Kenobi (on sale January 2),
which takes place early in Anakin Skywalker’s apprenticeship to
his reluctant mentor. Will a mission to find an ancient holocron
unite Master and Padawan, or only drive them further apart?
