1 Trim some card slightly longer than your

desired tassel length and about 4cm (1½in) wide,

then cut a large notch into the top and bottom

edges. Attach an approx. 15cm (6in) length of
3834 101 2609 violet thread along the top of the card with some
3852 306 2514 straw masking tape, with the ends extending
Backstitch in one strand beyond the card.

Backstitch in one strand DMC Diamant from top to bottom, using as little or as much
––––– D3852 dark gold thread as you want to get your desired width of tassel.

MAXIMUM STITCH COUNT 25 high x 25 wide Once done, remove the masking tape and tie the length
DESIGN AREA 14 HPI (28-count evenweave) – of thread around the wrapped threads at the top. Cut
4.5x4.5cm (1¾x1¾in)
through the wrapped threads along the bottom edge

and then remove the card.
These designs were stitched using DMC stranded cotton and 3 Wrap more thread around near the top of your tassel
DMC Diamant
to create a ‘neck’. Sew the ends of the thread into the
tassel so that they are secure and they disappear. Finish by
trimming the tassel to neaten.
