                                        Santiago de Cuba (see pp226–35) is a
                                        fascinating town built around a bay, with its
                                        heart around the Catedral de la Asunción.
                                        Every summer Santiago plays host to the
                                        liveliest carnival in Cuba, in which the entire
                                        local population takes part.
