Exploring the Kenai Peninsula
The varied landscape of the Kenai Peninsula takes in everything Anchorage
from fjords and glaciers to forests and muskeg. Kenai Fjords
National Park contains the Harding Icefield, one of the largest
in the US. The peninsula also features three very distinctive urban
areas – practical Seward, the bustling, commercial Kenai-Soldotna Cook Chickaloon SEWARD HIGHWAY

region, and free-spirited Homer. These towns boast some excellent Inlet HOPE
attractions, including Seward’s Alaska SeaLife Center and Homer’s Swanson Lakes Barabara

Getting Around
It is easiest to explore the region with an
organized tour or by car. The Seward Highway Elizabeth East Chugach
links the Kenai Peninsula to Anchorage, while Island Island
the Sterling Highway runs along the peninsula’s Perl
west coast. In the sum mer, Homer Stage Line buses Kodiak Island
connect Anchorage and Homer on weekdays, while
daily Park Connection Motorcoach buses run between
Seward and Denali National Park. Also in the summer,
there is a daily Alaska Railroad service from Seward,
and the Marine Highway ferry Tustumena calls at 0 km 20
Homer and Seldovia. Homer and Kenai are served 0 miles 20
by year-round scheduled flights from Anchorage.
