BRIGHT LIGHTS
Since the invention of the light-emitting diode (LED) in
1962 and liquid crystal display (LCD) in 1964, many
paper signs and billboards have been replaced by bright
and colorful illuminated street and road signs, as seen
here in Kowloon, Hong Kong. Now, smart digital
billboards can detect the make, model, and year of
oncoming vehicles and can use this information to project
advertisements tailored to the vehicle’s occupants.
