IT CAN’T BE TRUE! 149

                                                HARMONY OF THE SEAS

The longest supertanker ever was the Knock
Nevis, which was broken up in 2010. No longer in
use, the USS Enterprise was the longest naval ship
in the world, but was still shorter than the largest
cruise ship, the Harmony of the Seas. The Harmony
is nearly as tall as the Statue of Liberty, and twice
the length of the Azzam, the largest private yacht.
The world’s biggest cruise ship, the

                                               towns, with movie theaters, stores,
                                               restaurants, and swimming pools.
The Harmony even has a full-size

     At 1,246 ft (380 m) long and 223 ft (68 m)
wide, the TI Oceania is one of the biggest

supertankers afloat today. It can carry 3 million
barrels of oil, and when full it weighs 486,764
     tons (441,585 metric tons).

TI Oceania has a top speed of
                                                  16.5 knots (19 mph/31 kph). At this
speed it would take 46 seconds for
the entire ship to pass someone
                                                  watching from the shore.
