In the dialogue you studied in this lesson, the doctor said:

DOKTOR : Magpahinga ka!(Rest!)

Let us now pretend that someone asked you about your visit to the doctor:

TANONG : Ano ang sabi ng doktor?
What did the doctor say?

One way of answering this question is to use the word daw or raw. Use daw
when the last letter of the preceding word is a consonant, and use raw when the last
letter of the preceding word is a vowel. Thus:
SAGOT : Ang sabi ng doktor, magpahinga raw ako.
The doctor said to rest.

Now, study the following examples:

TANONG : Ano ang sabi ng nanay mo?
What did your mother say?

SAGOT : Ang sabi ng nanay ko, huwag daw akong uminom ng alak.
My mother said, don’t drink wine/alcohol.
TANONG : Ano ang sabi ng tatay mo?

What did your father say?

SAGOT : Ang sabi ng tatay ko, uminom daw ako ng bitamina.
My father said, take vitamins.
