Lando Calrissian risks it all in
Lando: Double or Nothing
Long before he became the suave
baron-administrator of Cloud City, and
even before he lost the Millennium
Falcon to Han Solo on a bet, Lando was
a galactic wild card in search of love
and money. This fi ve-part miniseries
from Marvel takes inspiration from
Donald Glover’s charismatic portrayal in
Solo: A Star Wars Story, telling the tale
of a young, confident, and impeccably
stylish Lando Calrissian.
Writer Rodney Barnes and artist
Paolo Villanelli depict a Lando who isn’t
about to stick his neck out for anyone—
not unless there’s a pile of credits
waiting for him on the other side. So
when Lando somehow fi nds himself
fighting on the same side as some
oppressed workers toiling in a droid
junkyard, it’s no surprise that he hopes
their liberation will come bundled with a
respectable payday.
Issue #1 of Lando: Double or Nothing
is available from May 30.
Authors and Artists
As well as being a Peabody award-winning
screenwriter who has worked on the likes of
Everybody Hates Chris and The Boondocks,
Rodney Barnes is no stranger to comics, having
written for one of Marvel’s Avengers in Falcon, and
helped bring Marvel’s Runaways to TV screens.
Artist Paolo Villanelli’s Marvel credits include
Squadron Supreme and the comics adaptation of
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and he has also
worked for Boom! Studios and IDW.
