RON HOWARD
A childhood star turned

respected fi lmmaker, Ron
Howard is the epitome
of a modern Hollywood 08
legend, whose career in
television and fi lm has
spanned an incredible
six decades.
Born in Oklahoma
in 1954, Howard’s family
moved to Hollywood in
1958 and within a year
the young “Ronny” was
fast becoming a regular
on television. He became
a household name after
starring as Opie Taylor in
The Andy Griffi ths Show
(1960-1968), but achieved
worldwide fame as Richie
Cunningham in the long-
running sitcom Happy
Days (1974-1984).
Howard’s cinematic
directorial debut came
with Grand Theft Auto
(1977), which opened just 09
