A new London Omnibus kit evokes some memories www.craftknives.co.uk
have to say, when I read that MiniArt
were to release a new 1:35 kit of a
London Omnibus, it evoked some
I emotional memories for me. When
growing up, my dad had built the old
1962 Airfix 1:32 1910 B-Type kit and it
had sat in a small glass display case
on the wall of my childhood home for,
quite literally, decades. To me, it was
wonderful museum piece and I am sure,
seeing everyday, it was to influence
my love of model kits. I will forever
associate this subject with my dad, but
when he passed away a few years back,
I think the model disappeared when
we cleared the house. My eyes (not
entirely dry) lit up when I saw MiniArt’s
announcement and I intend to build one
as a tribute to my dad, and maybe even
find a similar glass box to mount on the
wall of my home. ●
Availability;
MiniArt models are widely available
from good model shops and online.

Tamiya Craft Tools Craft Knife II (74153)
Not all cutting operations in scale modelling require a super-thin,
precision blade; sometimes we just need to cut plastic card and thicker
materials and a scalpel can sometimes snap in such conditions. Tamiya
have recently issued the ‘Mk.II’ Craft Knife and with its retractable,
snap-off blade, it is the ideal general cutter for the workbench.
