EXPOSURE LOCK
Pressing a camera’s exposure lock button holds the current exposure settings
temporarily. This means that once the exposure is locked, you can reframe a shot
and the exposure will remain the same. (Holding the shutter button halfway down
locks exposure, but it also locks focus, which you may not want.) Exposure lock is
usually canceled once you have taken a shot, or if the camera powers down. The
symbol for the exposure lock button on most cameras is a star. You can often set
it to toggle on and off, or so that you hold it down to lock exposure.
THE RESULT
CAMERA SETTINGS
Despite the challenging lighting conditions, the musician is perfectly ISO
exposed. Exposure lock made it possible to frame and shoot several A f/4 1/250 200 AW B
