In the Ngorongoro National Park in Tanzania, an
individual flamingo breaks away from its group in
what appears to be a game of ‘follow the leader’
Flamingos live in big groups, called flocks or colonies, which make a
point of staying close together, as this gives them a level of protection

their food, a bright and vibrantly coloured flamingo is o en a well-fed and
healthy one, and is more likely to attract a mate.
