Native to the island of Mauritius in the
Indian Ocean, the Mauritius kestrel is one
of the finest fliers around. Its body is entirely
adapted for forest habitats, with short, rounded
wings that enable smooth navigation through
the dense woodland. This agility in the air

smaller birds during short spurts of flight.
