MASS SPAWNING
Every year, common frogs lay their eggs
in billowing masses of jelly called frogspawn.
Frogs often share breeding sites, producing tens
of thousands of eggs between them. Each black
dot in the jelly is an egg that may grow into a
tadpole. Only a tiny number hatch, as predators
such as fish and insects devour the spawn.
