An Asian geometrid moth at rest protects
itself with an extraordinary piece of mimicry.
The pattern on the moth’s spread wings looks
just like two flies feeding on a bird dropping,
which may well repel would-be predators. To
make its disguise doubly convincing, the moth
even gives off the smell of droppings.
