After more than two years exploring Asia with her daughter, Evie
Farrell of mumpacktravel.com is something of a solo parent travel
trailblazer. Here, she shares her advice on the importance of
choosing the right holiday as a solo parent.
One of the most important things to consider when planning a
solo parent holiday is how you intend to enjoy it. Of course, we all
want family time, but it can be exhausting being the only adult
and providing all the entertainment. You need to factor in time for
you. Before you book a break, think about whether you want to
spend every single moment with your kids, or if you also want
a little time alone to rest, reset and relax.
By choosing to stay in a resort with a kids’ club you can
guarantee yourself some ‘me time’ during your holiday. You can
be pretty sure there will be other kids for yours to play with and
while they do, you might get to read that book you bought six
months ago.
While we love resorts with kids’ clubs, we also look for children’s
pools and splash areas and all-inclusive resorts where activities are
