Luxurious has never been a word I’ve used to
describe a cabin, at least not until our
weekend stay at the recently refurbished
Tweed Holiday Parks Tweed Heads.
Nestled on Terranora Creek and adjacent to
the calm waters of the Tweed River, the park
has recently undergone a $1.5 million facelift
and is just one of seven that the recently
rebranded Tweed Holiday Parks has dotted
throughout the region. All of these are within
a stone’s throw from the water and offer a
pledge to operate sustainably. Almost all have
accessible facilities while selected parks also
offer accessible cabins.
Cabin frenzy
Upon arrival at our Harbour Cabin – after the
usual fighting to see who can get in the door
first – my three kids are amazed at just how
“fancy” our two-bedroom cabin is. One of my
cheeky yet observant children yells out that
the cabin is “nicer than our house”.
I can’t say I blame them. With bamboo
flooring, a neutral colour scheme throughout,
modern appliances and contemporary
furniture, the cabin feels like a plush hotel
room. Sure, there’s no room service, but the
cabin's hallway lends it a super-spacious feel
and it’s stylishly decorated.
As for my room, it has a queen bed,
bedside tables and more than enough room
to swing a cat, a rare treat in a holiday park.
Once beds are assigned, the coffee machine
fired up and the balcony stacked with
