Cause and Effect

Diary of a Spider is a funny story about Spider
and his friend, Fly. In the story, one event makes
another happen. For example, Spider gets too big
for his skin, so he sheds it. Spider getting too big is
the cause. Spider shedding his skin is the effect.

When you read, ask questions about the words
and pictures to figure out what happens and
why. Use a chart to list text evidence of causes
and effects.
