Born and raised in LaPorte, Indiana, Kris Pate is currently
the Executive Director of the United Way of LaPorte

County. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in
Sociology from Purdue University and her MBA from
Chatham University in Pittsburgh. Before coming to United

Way, Kris worked in a variety of fields including: mental
health, social and employment skill building for persons
with disabilities, adult and juvenile criminal justice,
educational supports, family supports, child forensic

interviewing, mentoring, and in-home Medicaid waiver
programs for the disabled and elderly.

Sandy Smith serves as Vice President, Branch Manager

and a Certified Women’s Business Advocate with PNC
Bank. With over 30 years of experience, Sandy is
passionate about helping individuals and business owners

achieve financial success. She takes a personalized
approach to understand the needs of her clients and offers
solutions that make banking easy. Sandy is a member and

past Treasurer of the Rotary Club of Michigan City and
currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Michigan
City Chamber of Commerce and Paladin. She enjoys

golfing, reading and spending time with family and
friends.
