My Lovely Fool

                                                                                                Oh, my lovely fool!
                                                                                                Why do you recoil, for what fault of mine;
                                                                                                what misdeed I authored!

                                                                                                I swear by my love;
                                                                                                I know no other face except
                                                                                                your moonlight countenance, which never allows me
                                                                                                any wanton delight other than drinking honey,
                                                                                                your cherry blossom smile spills over.

                                                                                                My love! I know no other place
                                                                                                except your heart's tender couch, where I luxuriate,
                                                                                                like a cuckoo cooing from a sheltered grove.

                                                                                                My love! I know no other fire barring the fire of love
                                                                                                burning bright your radiant form;
                                                                                                let that fire devour me alive;
                                                                                                for this hapless creature longs, once again,
                                                                                                to rise from the ashes.

                                                                                                Judge Me

                                                                                                Judge me once, at least; if you wish.
                                                                                                Scoop me out of your dark niche ever stinking
                                                                                                with isolation and throw me out, bag and baggage,
                                                                                                and see for yourself, how I can outsmart you
                                                                                                by gate crashing your heart's courtyard
                                                                                                with a moon-lit smile.

                                                                                                Judge me once, at least; if you wish.
                                                                                                Unlock me from your rusty, rickety cage;
                                                                                                and see for yourself, how, gathering spring
                                                                                                to my feet and wings, I can scale to dizzy heights,
                                                                                                far beyond all mortal means
                                                                                                and bounce back, in a while,
                                                                                                from the jewelled gates of blue heaven,
                                                                                                carrying for you in my beak, a letter celestial,
                                                                                                wrapped with a streak of gilded cloud
                                                                                                caressed by sun and wind.

                                                                                                @Dr. Namita Laxmi Jagaddeb
