THE UNTOLD LOVE TO MY OLIVIA

From our childhood we were the playmates O' my Olivia, you live thousands of miles away
We would play the children's games and sports, Beyond the rivers, near the seas in pleasure,
the days proceeded, we got admitted in university Always you dreamt the life of true abundance
Then gallons of water flowed down in due course. Your dream is fulfilled, you live with treasure.

Now i can reminisce over the previous days You taught me how to dream a good dream
One day you fell ill with some unknown fever, Then i was really beside myself with joy,
I could not sleep but prayed the whole day Beside the river, 'neath the teak we whispered
So that my bosom pal would soon recover. Hands upon hands, eyes upon eyes, you were coy.

Like Maud Gonne's your image is in my heart I took you as my hero, i was leander
Truly speaking when i go to do my daily job, So, i crossed the Hellespont but all in vain,
Your image appears with a smiling face I was not the Edward-VIII , O' My Wally
For fear of losing you i always sob. He arrived, you caught hand and i'm in pain.

You visited our poor house many times You were my this be, i was your pyramus
On seeing you ever i would get dumb, Under the mull-berry tree we would sit for hours,
As if medusa has petrified the onlooker No whisper, no talking, we gazed at the rain-bow
From my larynx really no word would come. Years have passed; alone i gaze and shed tears.

i'm unlucky to you i could not open my chest, These are the paths, now i can clearly see
Where there were numberless gems of amour, Smiling we are walking side by side,
I have established you in the temple within This is the old Burma teak under whose feet
With sigh i will wait for births for your coiffure. Still in tears i'm rowing the canoe in hide.

                                                                                                              @Gobinda Biswas                                                          @Gobinda Biswas
