Alex Nwokolo


 Born in 1963 in the city of Lagos, Alex Nwokolo is one of the leading artists in the West Africa
 art scene. He enjoys music, painting, football, nature, travelling and trying his hands on new   Aso Ebi Series
 ideas. He works predominately in the medium of painting, but includes mixed-media to his

    Alex Nwokolo completed his Higher National Diploma (HND), with distinction at the   Oil on canvas
 Auchi Polytechnic School of Art and Design, Auchi, Edo State in 1991, followed by a Master of   2017
 Fine Art (MFA) at the University of Benin in 2000. Alex was the recipient of the American
 Ambassadors  Price  in  1991,  in  recognition  of  his  artistic  achievements  in  painting;  the
 Guinness Certificate of Merit in 2004; he was honoured by the School of Art and Design, Auchi
 Polytechnic, Auchi with the Excellence Award in 2010 and in 2014, he received the Society of
 Nigeria Artists (SNA), Lagos Chapter, Distinguished Master Artists Award.
    He has had 10 Solo exhibitions and 60 group exhibitions at top galleries in Nigeria, United
 Kingdom, France, Holland, South Africa and the United States. Some of which includes the
 Johannesburg FNB Art Fair 2010 and 2011; The Allen Hutton Gallery, Whetstone, London
 1992; Transcending Boundaries 2013 and 2014, Aabru Art, London; African Way of Art,
 Galerie Vendome, France 2011; African Festival of the Arts, Chicago, USA, 2014; The Road
 Less Travelled, Artistic License Gallery, Victoria Island, Lagos 2008; Authenticity of Thought,
 Sachs Gallery, 2012, Lagos.
    He has also participated in various art auctions, such as Phillips De Pury African Now   Tropical Hue
 Auction,  USA,  2010;  Bonhams  African  Now  Auction,  UK,  2012-2015;  Arthouse
 Contemporary Auction, Lagos, 2008-2016 and Lagos Art Auction, Terrakulture & Mydrim

    He is a member of the Society of Nigerian Artists (SNA) and the Guild of Professional Fine   Mixed media
