Reuben Ugbine



               Reuben  was  born  of  Nigerian  parents  in  Anponya,
               Ghana in 1956. He attended Urobo College, Effurun
 Durbar        Warri. His artistic career began at Auchi Polytechnic
               where  he  obtained  his  Ordinary  National  Diploma
 47 x 71 inches  (OND) in Art and the overall best students price in the
 Oil on canvas  school of Art and Design. He also obtained his Higher
               National Diploma (HND) (1977-1979) in sculpture at
 2018          the Yaba College of Technology.
                  He  lectured  at  Auchi  Polytechnic  from  1980  –
               1989, before retiring to full-time studio practice.
                  Reuben  has  featured  in  many  solo  and  group
               exhibitions  in  Nigeria  and  also  in  Germany,
               Netherland,  Lebanon,  London,  and  South  Africa.  He
               popularized figurative terracotta based on traditional
               Nigeria costumes, and other social activities, which he
               originated in 1982. He is also a very good painter.
                  His forte lies in woodcarving, which are generally
               impressive in scale and texture, either in figurative or
               in mask form.
                  Reuben's  works  are  both  in  private  and  public
               collection, home and abroad.
                  He is a member of the Society of Nigerian Artists
               (SNA)  and  the  Guild  of  Professional  Fine  Artists  of
               Nigeria (GFA)
