Together we are happy. On this most happy occasion
Apart we are sad. Of your high school graduation,
We have been roommates too long. With so many momentoes
We are both going mad. That can fill up our hearts,
We give you all our blessings
Two years seemed short, For all your fine thoughtfulness and
As we got on so well. The sunshine and happiness
Time flew too fast; You have brought to our lives.
Where it went we can’t tell.
As you grow a little older
And become more mature
I wish you were not leaving me
And your qualities bloom
Or going away.
But as we both knew it, Into full womanhood,
We would have to say . . . We will love you even more
As you work very hard;
More than ever before
GOODBYE
To give us joy and pride.
(But it won’t stay that way. It won’t!)
You are so radiant, so gentle,
So loving, so nice,
That we find it a blessing
That you came to our lives!
