Who were best buddies? What
is a ‘best buddy’? Best buddies
included boyfriends, girlfriends,
cars, pets and teachers. Speaking of
teachers, throughout the year they
attempted to bring one another
closer together by participating in a
type of secret gift and note
exchange; a secret pal in other
words. Those who participated
received and gave little gifts
secretly to one of the other
participants.
A best buddy is someone who
carried your books when you broke
your arm. A best buddy bought you
lunch when you lost your ticket. A
best buddy helped you with
homework. Your best buddy kept
you busy on the weekends. These,
of course, are all applied to human
best buddies.
If your car was your best
buddy, you may have found your
self spending every spare minute
washing and shining it, then taking
it for a spin around the block. And,
of course, you parked on the far end
of the school parking lot.
Whoever or whatever was your
best buddy, everyone needed one.
As for the students returning to
RHS, they will have the opportunity
to rekindle some of those relation
ships that may have wandered
away over the summer. Unfortuna
tely, those leaving may soon be
forced to begin new relationships
because of college or full-time
employment, thus breaking up old
friendships. It is then time again to
start the hunt for a new best buddy.
