                                                     T h is  year  the  tennis  sq u ad   suffered  sev erely  through
                                                 loss  by g ra d u a tio n .  C ap tain   E berle  w as  the o n ly letter  m an
                                                 to report.  H ow ever, Sam  W a g n e r,  A rth u r  H artley,  D ag g ett
                                                 H o w ard ,  and  M arte  C olton  h ad   a ll  h ad   som e  experience
                                                 the  year  before.  N ew com ers  on  the  squad  w ere  Bob  Scott,
                                                 E dw ard C ooper,  and  P h ilip  Jastram .  A t  this  tim e o n ly  tw o
                      m atches  have  been  p layed ,  but  it  is  not  at  a ll  u n lik e ly   th at  a  good  co m bination  m ay
                      be  develo p ed  from   the  squad.
                           In  the  first  m atch  the  team   h ad   the  bad  lu ck  to  go   dow n  before  T ab o r  by  the
                       close score of  five  to  four.  T h ere  w ere  tw o  or  th ree close gam es  p layed ,  and  a  victory
                       in  an y  one  of  these  w o u ld   have  turned  the  resu lt  in  our  favor.  A   p a rtic u la rly   in ter­
                       estin g   perform ance  w as  put  on  by  C ap tain   E berle  and  L eigh to n ,  T a b o r’s  num ber  one
                       m an.  T h e  p layers  profited  a  g re a t  d eal  from   the exp erien ce an d   took  th e n ext m atch
                       from   the  P rovidence  C o lleg e  Freshm en  by  seven  to  tw o.
                            A lth o u gh   the  team   is  a  little   green   as  yet,  M r.  H erm an ,  assisted   by  M r.  A dkins,
                       w ill  p robably  be  ab le to  step  up  its  pace  th ro u gh o u t  the  rem ain d er  of  the  season.
