Avagadro's Day
Mole Day Festivities Hagedorn-Style
To many, October 23 is nothing
more than another fall day, but to
the world of chemistry it is a very
special time. This day, known as
Mole Day, commemorates one of
the most prominent scientists in
history, Amedeo Avagadro, who
contributed largely to the molecular
theory. Avagadro is most famous
for his measurement known as a
mole. This number is 6.022x10’ . The
use of the mole is so significant and
vital to the study of chemistry that
since 1991 the National Mole Day
Foundation, Inc., has created a day
in its memory.
