Facts From the March
The first March for Life was held on January 22, 1974, on the
West Steps of the Capitol, estimating 20,000 marchers.
In recent years, the number of marchers has been estimated
at around 100,000 to 300,000 each year.
Important speakers over recent years have included George
W. Bush, Alveda King (niece of Martin Luther King, Jr.), and
the parents of Terri Schiavo.
The march itself begins at the National Mall and ends at the
Supreme Court Building.
