communication.
In American Literature
on students were able to further
their knowledge of familiar
authors such as Sandburg, Frost,
and Faulkner, while also being
introduced to less familiar names
like Auden, Hughes, and Porter.
Film Study was another aspect
of English. Students made a
study of film genre and
language, classic feature films,
and directorial styles.
Advanced Composition was a
college prep course in which
students wrote on various issues
and topics, such as women's
rights.
Honors English was for
advanced students who were
interested in the classics. Other
English classes spent a semester
on grammar and the other
semester analyzing literature.
Personal Communication
focused on interpersonal
relationships. This course helped
students improve their self
concepts and their
communication skills. Several
speeches were required
throughout the year.
"Per. comm, helped me to
learn to speak in front of a large
group of people," said junior
Robin Grutel.
English classes provided
something for all students,
polishing their skills and
stretching their minds with new
ideas.
