Bahrce
ocal music director Dwaine
V Price was extremely pleased
with this year's chamber singers'
and swing choir's performances.
He described the chamber
singers' Christmas program, "A
Christmas Dinner at the Home of
Charles Wesley," as a great success.
It was performed at Messiah
Lutheran Church on December
sixth and at First Christian Church
on December 20.
The choirs performed at the
Midwest Jazz Festival April 17,
where swing choir received
superior ratings and placed third in
Class AAA. Chamber singers
received excellent ratings.
According to Price, the two
groups "investigate two different
styles of music. Chambers works
basically on madrigral style
literature, and swing choir on
popular music with added
choreography."
Price noticed "general growth in
all areas" throughout the year.
"Musicality in all classes has
improved — sight reading, sense
of balance and pitch, and much
growth in voice production and
technique."
"It was a very successful year,"
concluded Price.
I've got rhythm. Entertaining the audience as
well as themselves is the swing choir at the
vocal department spring concert.
A-one-and-a-two a. Counting off the piece is
choir director Dwaine Price as Ms. Barb Riley
accompanies during a chamber rehearsal.
