ain, wind, and cold didn't force
R a bad season on the girls' tennis
team. Despite the inconsistent
weather, the girls ended their season
with a 7-2 dual record, with their
only two losses being to top-rated
Westside and Burke.
Keeping united as a team, the girls
beat both Tech and Benson with
scores of 9-0. After a postponement
due to rain, the girls finally got a shot
at Bellevue West.
"Despite the fact that the game
was again rained out, we had a big
enough lead to defeat Bellevue 5-1,"
said coach Garry Jurgens.
In the game against Bryan, the girls
repeated their magic score of 9-0,
and then struck again by beating
Bellevue East with a score of 6-3.
"Overall we played real well in
duals. We were not doing very well
in the first couple of tournaments,
but did well in the Papillion
Invitational by placing second," said
Jurgens.
Using a reinforced backhand, sophomore Kerrie
Carlson smacks the ball back to her opponent's
court.
Reaching for the ball, senior Armina Rahman
responds with an overhand lob.
