Teaching is one of the most profitable ca
reers, many times very little monetary pay.
Fulfillment does not always come in the
form of a paycheck. “I believe that the
greatest aspect about being a teacher is help
ing your students to achieve their goals in life. I believe
that we are to be their light in the darkness and their
cheerleader on the side lines. If you allow yourself to be
there for your students, it opens the door of opportunity
to present the gospel to them on a one-on-one basis,”
Liz Shumate said.
Watching a young reader learn a new concept and
read a new word, observing a student as his eyes light up
82 as he comprehend a new math concept is priceless. Lov
ing children with unmotivated spirits is not easy, but
seeing those same children come to a point where the
teacher can say, “Yes! You did it, and that’s the right an
swer!” is priceless.
