Cross Country
This year was yet another amazing
season for the Cross Country team. The
season was filled with hard work and
history-m aking. For the first tim e in OK
Green history, there was a three way tie
for first place between Holland, Zeeland
West, and Zeeland East in the boys' race,
king the Holland boys conference
imps two years in a row. The girls
moved up two spots placing fourth at
conference this season compared to
sixth last season. Shayna Altvater, Nick
Hoffman, and Sam Martens snatched a
spot on the all conference team and all
went on to race at state. Sam Martens
also broke the school record with a tim e
of fifteen minutes and thirty-seven point
five seconds.
Cross country is a challenging sport,
but the outcome was very rewarding.
This year was Senior Oscar Rafael's first
year on the team, and he learned that
"Racing can be hard and it hurts, but it
feels good."
Some joined cross country not just for
the running but also for the people and
the atmosphere. "I'd say the people are
my favorite part of cross country
because they encourage me to do
better, and it feels like a fam ily," stated
Abby Book (12).
