The
1987-88
academ ic
year was a
banner year- for
the Allentown Col
lege athletic teams
and varsity athletes.
One hundred thirty-eight
student athletes comprised
i -w i the eleven Centaur squads.
/ Each sport, in its own way, can
/ 7 / boast a specific accomplishment
/ as records fell like Mike Tyson’s op-
/ . / ponents.
/ The following are some Allentown
/ College athletic firsts that occured during
/ the 87-88 seasons:
/ — Chris Turner ’88 became Centaur Soccer’s
/ all-time leading scorer with 95 career points,
^ 7 / — Tim Riggs ’91 set Centaur Soccer’s freshman
/ scoring record with sixteen goals and five assists,
\ / — A Junior Varsity soccer team was started,
\ / — Varsity Soccer ranked #1 in NAIA Area 10,
7 / — Head Soccer Coach Ron Quinn was named NAIA Dis
trict 19 and Mid-Atlantic Region “Coach of the Year”,
— Women’s Basketball recorded a record 23 wins,

NAIA District 19 “Co-Coach of the Year,”

Once again Allentown College has taken a major step toward “establishing tradition.”
With plans in the works for a new athletic complex and an increased emphasis on ath
letics, the Centaurs are now moving on to “established dominance.”
