Unpredictable?

                 W inter = Snow + parties + fun!

                      rr! Officially the winter season
                  B doesn’t start until December
21, but an early snow in October and
                 60 degrees in December exempli
                 fied mother nature’s unpredictable
                 ways. Such contrasts aren’t unusual
for Nebraska, and most people are
used to the climate changes from
                  day to day.
                    Normally, by December the temp
                  erature ranges from below zero
degrees to the thirties, and there’s
usually snow or at least frost or ice
on the ground. But this year there
was no "white Christmas" and the
                  December days were unseasonably
                  warm.
                    Christmas time was thought of
many months ahead, and some peo
                  ple shopped long before the
                  "Christmas Rush” began. The holi
day season seemed to be a special
time for everyone, with many par
                  ties, gifts, and decorations.
This year students and faculty had
a full two week vacation for the holi
days instead of the usual 10 days.
                  Some took their family vacations,
worked for extra money, played in or
                  attended the Holiday Basketball
                  Tournament, and some just "bum
med around” at home or with over, it was time to go back to
friends. school to hit the books and start
Quite a few parties went on before studying again. Then the normal
the new year began — but the New cold season started with snow
Year's Eve parties seemed to be the resuming again in January, and the
biggest and most exciting celebra cold, bitter winds of winter were a
tions. The beginning of a new year is reality. February brought a free
always reason to really celebrate, snow day and on March 4 classes
but bringing in a new decade were dismissed at 1:30 after high
seemed even more important. winds and five inches of snow
Oh, no. A week after the new year brought a blizzard warning to the
began, after all the football bowl Metropolitan area. But have no fear:
games and everything else was spring was just around the bend.

seems to be popular in the winter, when the toilet paper
is really difficult to take down because it gets frozen.
