This year Ralston basketball created a reputation for exciting games that go t the
crowd on the edge of their seats. The team had a strong s ta rt taking third place
again at the Blue Valley S hootout in Kansas C ity and taking firs t place at the
York Invite. The team knew this year would no t be handed to them. Coach Heard
stretched these young men to their limits, starting training early in the school Dwight Smith
year and only g e ttin g tougher on them throughout the season. When asked about
the seniors he said. "There is good and bad. The good is th a t our guys have been
through this before and will n o t be nervous when we come to crunch tim e during
the year. The bad is it will take us a lo t to rebuild next year, but we should be able
to draw on the lessons we took from those players." W ith eight seniors, this team
was packed w ith experience. The m ost exciting game of the season was the Dis RAMS
tric t Finals where Ralston beat Cross 5 9 -5 0 . which took the boys to State once
again. However, their jo u rn e y came to an end when South Sioux C ity won in the
second round. This was an im portant season for Ralston basketball and each player
learned more and more throughout the season. Eric Tucker
