JIMO& • moments time

That first day of Junior year. Now we're on the North side.
Some of the teachers tell us it was once the girls side of the old
Mater Christi Diocesan High School. I wonder what it was like
back then? Now it's the side of the school for the upper classmen.
What a jump — merely to one side of the building, but a whole
new level of maturity and responsibility. What 'moments in time'
are a part of my junior year? Lots of choices, that's for sure. I'm
living with my choices I made last year for electives. Maybe first
period I'm cooking up a pizza in Nutrition Class, then writing a
short story in Creative writing. Learning about past moments in
time in U.S. Studies. Exploring the mind in Psychology Class, or
human society in Sociology. Feeling like a potential lawyer in
Criminal or Business Law, and taking a trip through the sixties
        and seventies in Contemporary issues.
That's just part of my moment in time during the school day.
My out of school day as a junior involves moments in time spent
at my after school job as I help Mom and Dad pay the tuition, and
I try to put a few dollars away for college. Money, that's a junior
concern, because my junior year has a couple of other moments
in time that hit my pocketbook. There's the Dude Ranch Trip, and
the School Ring. And Ring Day is such a big thing that a new suit
or dress is in order too. And then I find out that the SAT's cost
some money too, especially if I want to prepare properly with a
        workbook or a course.
I think what I'm saying is that my moment in time as a junior
has been a lot more than a journey to the north side of the build
ing, the upperclass side. It's been a journey to the real responsi
bilities of adulthood— financial, moral, spiritual, psychological. I
think my prayer as a junior is 'Please Lord, help me take it one
        day at a time!"
