               PUT YOUR THINKING CAPS ON

                                                        s train " A " ,

going lOO mph approaches Train "B " going 150

mph, at what point will they meet and how long
will it take? If you found yourself saying "who

cares," it was time to "put your thinking caps

            on."
Many of us came to school excited to learn, as

others came for social reasons. Several new things

happened this year as academics took a new ap
proach. The Interdisciplinary Team went into its

second year. A math class used Nebraska Furni

ture Mart as a classroom to study budgets.
Our teachers continued their quest to provide

quality education. They put their thinking caps on
and found new ways to teach. Ralston experi

mented with a new school calendar which allowed

students and faculty to start school earlier but al
lowed for elongated breaks throughout the year.

There was an intersession each semester designed
to allow students to get help on homework, make

up work and take specialty classes. Teachers also

experimented with double blocks as a means for
students to retain more of what they had learned

and allowed teachers to teach a class for a longer

period of time but meet with students every other
            day.

Regardless of whether you were here because

you wanted to be, or you were forced to be, it is
evident that we all had to buckle down and "put

            our thinking caps on."
