Ricki  Garabello  steps  up  to  bat  for the  Lady  Centaurs.
            RTHLETIC5
             Milestones,  Victories.  Courage  and  determination.  These  words
            describe  the 1988-89  athletic  program.  The  following
            accomplishments  depict  the  successful  gear  of  fl.G.  sports.
             The  soccer team  boasted  the most  successful  record  in  the
            historg  of this  sport  at  fl.G.  Senior  Dave  Greco  and  sophomore
            Tim  Riggs were selected  for first  team  HII-E5RC  and  first  team
            R fllfl  District  19.  Sophomore  Mike  Beer  received  honorable
            mention  for the  flll-ESflG team.
             The  volleyball  team  captured  the  ESflG  northern  Division.  The
            team  set a  record  for the  most  wins  (ZZ)  and  the  most
            consecutive wins  (13).  Juniors  Fran  Berger  and  Sue  Zegac  were
            selected for first  team  fill-ESfiC.  Senior  Marg  Jo  Corkerg
            received  honorable  mentioned.
              In  Cross-Countrg,  senior  Michelle  Swartleg,  junior Steve
            Geissler and  sophomore  Paula  Rizzuto  all  received  recognition
            for first  team  fllI-E5flG.
              After winning  the  ESflC championship,  the  women’s  basketball
            team  received  a  bid  to  DCflfl  Division  III  Tournament.  Senior
            Karin  Povish was  named  a  Kodak  Regional  flll-flmerican  and
            was  selected  for first  team  flll-ESflC.  She  also  was  voted  MVP
            for the  ESflC Tournament.
             The  men’s  basketball  team  made  it  to  the  ESflC  plag-offs  for
            the  first  time.  Senior John  Ward  became  the  #1  male  leading
            scorer  in  the  1,000  point  club  and  was  also  chosen  for  first  team
            fll-ESflC.  Junior  Bill  Gardiner  received  honorable  mention.  The
            golf  team  was  the  most  successful  spring  sport.  This  team  won
            both  the  ESflC  and  District  19  Rfllfl  championships  and  traveled
            to  Michigan  to  participate  in  the  Rational  Championship.
             The  tennis  team  once  again  captured  the  Rfllfl  championship
            and journeyed  to  Kansas  City  to  compete  in  the  Rational  Rfllfl
            Tournament.
             Both  the  softball  and  baseball  team’s  were  plagued with
            numerous  injuries  which  placed  strains  on  both  of  their  seasons.
                                                                       fl.G.  runners,  Steve  Tepper and  Ken  Brown  lead  the  pack.
            Academic  obligations  along  with  bad  weather  also  played  a
            major  factor in  the  number  of  missed  games.
             All  in  all,  it  can  be  said  that  fl.G.  has  a  lot  to  boast  of.  All  of
            the  athletes  and  coaches  should  be  commended  for their  many
            accomplishments.
